Xbox controller won't sync

I have already tried that. When I try to sync it, nothing happens. Is there a certain way to sync it. I had my Xbox on and held both sync buttons. Does my controller have to be on? My controller won't stay on unless I hold the home button.

I have 2 battery packs both charged and also tried with regular batteries, the xbox itself won't let me sync? It's not the controllers I'm certain of that, why isn't my xbox trying to sync when I press the sync button?

I'm facing some what the same issue..... However even after inserting the USB.....nothing is working ..my joystick isn't moving anything on the screen...weird..last night everything was fine..I'm using Xbox one btw

If you are able to update it from your Xbox by connecting it from USB, try to connect it wirelessly to your PC.

Have you tried to connect the controllers by USB?

If your controller connects when using a USB cable but doesn't stay connected after removing the cable, reconnect the cable and see if there’s an update available for your controller:

- Press the Xbox button to open the guide.

- Under Profile & system, select Settings.

- Under Devices & connections, select Accessories.

- On the Xbox Wireless Controller screen, select “…” to check the firmware version for your controller.

- If it says there’s no update available, your controller is updated. If it says “Update,” follow the steps provided.

Once your controller is updated, disconnect the USB cable and try connecting wirelessly again.

If you can't try to connect it with a USB cable, please let me know.
