Xbox controller won’t stay on

When i press the xbox button in my controller to connect to my PC wireless just flash the light while i press it, and if a release the button will turn of. it works while connected with the USB cable, but i want to use it wireless and i dont know what to do. i tried changing bateries (doesnt works) and it keeps flashing the light as long as i keep pressing, but can´t make any connection with the PC by bluetooth .

Hi thanks for replying. I cant acctually pair the controller with the xbox. I pressed both pairing buttons but it won’t pair as the controller light stays black

Thank you so much for the update and in this case, you may need to get the external hard drive checked, Braden especially if there is no issue if it's not plugged in. I would highly recommend reaching out to Seagate support.

I tried this but it didn’t work whenever I plug it in if my controller ever does stay on it barely works and it moves a lot on its own. Everything works fine when it’s not plugged in.

Hi, I hope you're doing great out there. I am an Independent advisor and I am here to help you with your concern.

This may mean that the issue is with your external hard drive. It may have been corrupted which is why every time to plug it into your console it causes issues.

What you can try to do is to reformat the drive to try and fix it. Please follow the steps below:

"Press the Xbox button on your controller to open the guide, and then select Profile & system > Settings > System > Storage.

Select your device, and then select Format."

Once done, remove the hard drive, then perform a power cycle, and test if the issue will still persist.

"1. Turn off your console by holding the Xbox button on the front of the console for approximately 10 seconds. The console will turn off.

2. Turn your console back on by pressing the Xbox button on the console or the Xbox button on your controller. "

Hi there!

Which version of the controller are you using (an Xbox One controller or an Xbox Series-controller)? I had some issues with the latter two months ago as well. Usually the easiest solution is by updating the firmware of the controller.

If updating your controller didn't solve the issue, you can follow the guide on the official Microsoft support-page: Connect and troubleshoot Bluetooth on your Xbox Wireless Controller | Xbox Support. If you scroll down, there is a section about possible solutions for connection issues via Bluetooth.
