    Xbox Controller won't connect to PC (USB connection)


    Xbox controller will not connect to PC, all other USB devices will connect, I've tried every port, 2 different controllers and 3 different cables, nothing works, I have updated all USB drivers, no controller shows up on device manager, I have no windows updates. I sometimes get an error message that says "USB device malfunctioned". I can connect other devices including a drawing tablet to any of the ports and it works fine, only my two xbox controllers do not work.

    Hi Keith, There are two ways to connect an Xbox controller to a PC: with a USB cable or via Bluetooth.

    Connect with a USB cable

    Plug one end of the USB cable into the USB port on your PC.

    Plug the other end of the USB cable into the USB port on your Xbox controller.

    The controller should automatically connect to your PC.

    Connect via Bluetooth

    Make sure your Xbox controller and PC have Bluetooth.
    Activate Bluetooth on your PC.

    Press and hold the pairing button on the Xbox controller for 3 seconds.

    The controller should appear in the list of Bluetooth devices on your PC.

    Select the Xbox controller from the list and click "Connect."

    Go to your windows update and click on get updates

    After updating

    Windows 10 or 11?

    See which version is your windows this way, and tell me

    To connect a Xbox 360 wired controller to your PC, just plug in the USB plug into the USB socket on your PC.

    Xbox 360 controllers will not connect wirelessly to a computer. If you are trying to use a Play-and-Charge cable to connect through USB, that is not what it is designed for and won't be compatible. If you really want to use an xbox controller on your computer
    I would recommend either purchasing an adapter build to do this, or one of the controllers out there that are built for PC.

    yes you connect Xbox one controller to a Pc, wirelessly or cable, but to play xbox games on ur PC you need to connect controller via micro usb cable.
