    Xbox controller won't connect to pc over usb


    Xbox one controller will not connect to pc over wired connection, it's not a Bluetooth model so that's not an option. It will vibrate upon being plugged in but will never connect or show up in device manager. I can't update the drivers because it's not detected in the Xbox accessories app. I'm stuck honestly.

    Have you updated the controller? To do so you'll need a PC or an Xbox

    Then download the Xbox accessories app and connect your controller, preferably over USB

    Hi Keith, There are two ways to connect an Xbox controller to a PC: with a USB cable or via Bluetooth.

    Connect with a USB cable

    Plug one end of the USB cable into the USB port on your PC.

    Plug the other end of the USB cable into the USB port on your Xbox controller.

    The controller should automatically connect to your PC.

    Connect via Bluetooth

    Make sure your Xbox controller and PC have Bluetooth.
    Activate Bluetooth on your PC.

    Press and hold the pairing button on the Xbox controller for 3 seconds.

    The controller should appear in the list of Bluetooth devices on your PC.

    Select the Xbox controller from the list and click "Connect."

    Hey Chance,

    Thanks for posting! When wiring an Xbox One controller into a Windows PC to charge, the PC will switch to prioritizing that USB connection over the wireless dongle. When you unplug the controller from your PC, the PC may not pick up the wireless connection
    and a pairing the controller again would be necessary.

    Hope that helps clear up the issue.
