Xbox controller on windows 11 not charging properly

Soo yeah i bought a new controller recently like 3 months ago or so? the "remix" green from recycled plastic or smth with battery pack included was new and packaged not used or anything. And i noticed in recent days that the battery drain was weird so i charged it for like 3 hours and noticed its stuck on 16% won't charge past that no matter how long i waited ;/ So i tried different cables (3 of em) also same thing, tried different usb ports too checked if the battery pack sits properly in the controller i updated the firmware in the xbox accesories in microsoft store the usual troubleshooting but still can't charge past 16% What do?

Hi Kazz,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Xbox Community. I'm sorry to hear that you are having issues with the battery of your controller. I understand that it's stuck at 16% when charging.

As part of our initial troubleshooting, please power cycle your controller: Press and hold the Xbox button for 5-10 seconds until the controller turns off. Wait a few seconds, and then press and hold the Xbox button again to turn the controller back on. Try to charge it again and see if it will go past 16%.

In addition, you may try to use a different charger and leave it overnight. If it still not charging, completely remove the battery and use it while it's plugged in for a while then return the battery pack.

If your battery is not yet faulty, these methods usually solves these types of issues.

Are we talking about a 360 that is hardwired or a 360 controller that you have attached a Play and Charge to?

The hard wired 360 controller should just work. There are no drivers available to download on the Windows 11 as Win 11 already has these drivers b built in to the OS. If your controller isn't working, either there is something wrong with your OS install, the controller is faulty or your controller is a a cheap knock off controller that doesn't actually support XINPUT.

If you've attached the controller via a Play and Charge note that the 360 wireless controllers are always wireless. They can not send control data via the charging cable. If this is the case you'll need a 360 wireless gaming adaptor. The Xbox One Wireless adaptors don't work with 360 controllers.

If your controller isn't working on other PC running Windows 11 it tells me something is wrong with your controller.

There aren't any compatibility issues with older Xbox 360 controllers and Windows 11. I've just tried my old Xbox 360 wired controller in my brand new Windows 11 based PC and it works fine. The fact that it isn't working now is likely coincidental.

Are you sure the Xbox 360 is a wired Xbox 360 controller, and not connected by a separate cable like the play and charge cable? If it is the play and charge cable, it will not work on Windows 10, as it only charges the batteries on a PC. If it is a actual
wired controller, then Windows 10 should detect and then download the drivers if needed.
