    Xbox Controller Not Turning On


    Hi,

    I was trying to get my controller to stop acting funny (Shutting off randomly and unsyncing) while playing games on my laptop, so i decided to update the driver on the Xbox Accessory App.

    For some reason, I used a finicky usb cord to connect it while i updated the controller and it disconnected around 6% on the update. Ever since then the controller has not turned on and my Xbox and the App won't recognize it. My laptop barely recognizes
    it but as an error. I haven't been found a way to turn it on.

    I've spent a few hours yesterday and today trying to figure it out. But it seems like no one has encountered a similar problem and most solutions are either not relevant or didn't affect it at all. I even tried a microsoft virtual agent and it ended up telling
    me i have to replace it...

    If anyone knows anything or can help, it would be greatly appreciated.

    Turn off your XBOX. Now turn on your XBOX AT the XBOX NOT with the controller, then turn on your controller.

    Xbox keeps turning off

    I know if I turn on my Xbox using the controller and then turn on my TV it will then just turn off my Xbox. Maybe try turning on the TV first then your Xbox?

    Xbox Controller Not Turning On

    Please connect the controller to your xbox or PC via USB and hold the big xbox button and the menu button (3 lines button) until it turns on. It should take about 15 seconds to refresh it.

    I think I have found the answer to your problem. I honestly thought it wouldn't work, but this did perfectly for me. Hopefully this will work for you and everyone who's having this problem.

    1. Plug in your controller to your Xbox One via cable.

    2. As the controller is turned on, hold the Xbox button and turn the controller off, not the console.

    3. Have your Kinect plugged in and turned on and face it to your controller.

    4. Turn on your controller and hold the controller sync button.

    This should work for you as it worked for me. If not, try it this way with an added step:

    1. Plug in your controller to your Xbox One via cable.

    2. As the controller is turned on, hold the Xbox button and turn the controller off, not the console.

    3. Have your Kinect plugged in and turned on and face it to your controller.

    4. Press the sync button on the left-side of your Xbox One console.

    5. Turn on your controller and hold the controller sync button, facing the controller towards your system and Kinect.

    Phantom Controller Issue

    You could try taking the batteries out of the phantom controller and then turning off all the other controllers and the Xbox, then put the batteries back in and then use that controller to turn on the Xbox.

    It's a bit hard to figure out what the problem might be based on the given information.

    When you turn on your controller, does it automatically turn on your Xbox? If not, then it's not connected and you might need to sync it first.

    To do so:

    - Turn on Xbox

    - Turn on controller

    - Press "connect" button on Xbox

    - Press and hold "connect" button on controller

    - Release button when the Xbox logo on the controller stops flashing.

    Thanks for the help. I turned off the console and the controller, turned on the Xbox 360 again and turned on the new controller and it allowed me to sign in with my xbox live account/profile.
