Xbox controller not receiving any power through USB C port

Hi all, So I have a series x/s controller that I've had for a while now that I mainly use on my pc by connecting it with a USB C cable but a few days ago it didn't turn on, I've tried connecting with different ports and cables and still doesn't work but it works if I have a battery installed and use it on my xbox with bluetooth, but with this I cant use it on my computer since it doesn't have a bluetooth adaptor. I don't know if there is a problem with the controller or I need to do something to fix it, also I have updated the controller and tried connecting the controller via cable on the xbox but even then the port wont work with the xbox as well. If anyone has solutions I'm all ears and any help would be very much appreciated.

    :)

Xbox controller not receiving any power through USB C port

Hi, Andoo24s! Thank you for reaching out.
I'm AJ, an Independent Advisor for the Xbox Community.
I'm sorry to hear you are experiencing issues with your Xbox controller.

Unfortunately, when it comes to this kind of problem, troubleshooting methods are very limited. For your reference:

"If the controller doesn’t work when connected with a USB cable, double check that the problem isn’t with the cable or the port—try a different cable/port connection or connect to a different device. If you’ve verified that the cable and port are working and the controller still doesn’t work when connected, then the controller needs to be replaced"

    -------

Considering your controller has been updated, you already tried different cables and USB ports on multiple devices, and it's still not receiving power, I'd say it's very likely there is something physically wrong with its USB C port.

    • May I ask if you have already checked the USB C port for any obstructions caused by debris, or dust? I apologize beforehand if this seems like an obvious question, I just want to make sure all options are exhausted.

In addition to making sure the port is not obstructed, could you give this a try?

    - Turn the controller on by using batteries.
    - Press and hold its Xbox button for around 20 seconds.
    - Take the batteries out.
    - Plug the USB cable in and check if the issues persist.

This usually only works for minor issues, but I'd say it's still worth trying.

    • If this doesn't work, then I'm afraid I'd have to suggest checking its warranty status and available service options at: https://account.microsoft.com/devices

Please let me know if you have any questions, I'd be happy to help.
    Best regards.

Xbox controller not receiving any power through USB C port

    Hi, Andoo24s!
On the contrary, thank you for your trust and patience.

Unfortunately, there's nothing else I'd suggest trying, as this seems to be an internal hardware problem and not something that can be fixed through standard troubleshooting. As a fellow gamer, I understand this is probably not the answer you were hoping for. I'm sorry, Andoo24s.

Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any further questions, I'd be happy to help in any way I can.
    Best regards.

Xbox 1 controller not connecting to PC

    Hi,

What battery are you referring to? Are they actually re-chargeable?

The Xbox One controller should work on a PC while wired with or without a battery. If no battery is present, the USB port itself will power the controller.

As for ports, it won't matter what port you use. While there are indeed different types of USB ports, the Xbox One controller will work on any USB A port as it only needs USB 2.0 which have been standard for over 15 years now. All USB ports are backwards
    compatible with previous versions.

There could be an issue with your controller cable. Have you tried a different one? For the controller to function when wired the cable must be able to send and receive data. Any USB to Micro USB cable rated as a 'Sync and charge' will work with the Xbox
One controller. Other than that the port on the controller could be damaged.

    Problems with sync function

You should be able to do it following these steps:

Connect your controller using a micro-USB cable (included with all standard Xbox One wireless controllers and the Xbox One Play & Charge Kit). Standard alkaline batteries won’t be used to power the controller functions while you’re using your controller
    as a wired controller.

If you’re using an Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2 or Xbox Adaptive Controller, connect your controller using a USB-C cable (included with both controllers).

Depending on the type of controller you have, plug the micro-USB or USB-C cable into the power port on the back of the controller then plug the other end of the cable into your Xbox One.

    Hope this helps
