Xbox Controller Issues

My xbox controller has suddenly stopped working on the 6th of December 2018 (Australian Time) and I cannot seem to sort out the issue. I have a basic xbox one wireless controller. I do use a standard cable that connects my controller to my xbox so I don't
need to purchase batteries (I do have a pair of batteries in the controller as well though). I also have a set of apple earphones that I use to talk to my friends and has never caused me trouble/not worked. I turned my xbox on today and my controller was working
fine. My controller suddenly stopped working as it turned off and when I turned it back on, the controller was flashing. My controller was still connected to my xbox via cable so I assumed it wasnt a sync problem and when I tried to check, my controller wouldnt react
with my xbox when I did try. I left my controller alone and when I came back, it had connected up but told me to update my controller. I did this because I thought that this was what the problem was. I then left it again while it was updating, came back to
see it was stuck on 46%. I was frustrated and turned my xbox off, assuming my controller would just connect back up again. When I did, my controller did not connect back up and now I am here, stuck with no answers. I have disconnected my earphones in an attempt
to try and sync it back up again and such but this did not work. Help would be greatly appreciated, thank you!
