Xbox Controller Issue...and the larger issue with M$ Support

I've bought a PS5 after this debacle.

This wasn't the first time that a simple matter was dealt with by a customer serive team in a manner that appeared at face value to be wholly against the customer experience.

Someone at M$ end, on more than one occasion has gone out of their way to make owning an xbox, not only difficult, but extremely frustrating.

Last time I had an issue, it took over 6 attempts at calling them and EVERY ONE OF THOSE VERY LONG CALLS WAS HUNG UP.

This time, something illegal happened when I sent them a controller that was in warranty and they sent me back a broken controller that was OUT OF WARRANTY. Not to mention that while I tried to sort out the issue, I was hung up on again by M$ customer services.

This clearly is not an isolated issue, in fact, it appears to be a policy.

So I'm out...

Ouch, sorry to hear that. I'd recommend heading to https://support.xbox.com and start an online chat. When you get in to talk to someone ask to be escalated. They'll want to know what the issue is and you can tell them but continue to insist on being escalated as this level cannot help.

Once you get to a Microsoft Advocate you can let them know what happened and they'll help out

This sounds more like a console freeze issue and less like a controller issue. I think your controller not working is just a symptom of a larger issue.

Sorry for your issues Since Windows 7 is older, it takes a little more to get the Xbox One controller connected. Follow these steps and let us know if you still need help after trying this:

When you connect an Xbox Wireless Controller to your Windows 8.1 or Windows 7 PC with a micro-USB cable, Windows will automatically download and install the drivers for the controller. If Windows is not set to automatically download device software, you
can check for updates through Device Manager.

Update drivers through Device Manager

Here’s how to check for updates manually in the Device Manager:

1. Point to the lower-right corner of the screen, move the mouse pointer up, and then select
   Search.
2. Enter Device Manager in the search box, and then select
   Device Manager.
   
   Note Windows may ask you for an administrator password or to confirm your choice.
   
3. Locate and expand Microsoft Xbox One Controller.
4. Right-click the expanded Microsoft Xbox One Controller and select
   Update Driver Software.
5. Select Search Automatically for Updated Software.

With Xbox Wireless or USB connections, you can connect 4 Xbox Wireless Controllers at the same time. You won’t get audio through the controller so there’s no need to connect a headset. Bluetooth connections
are not supported.
