Xbox controller intermittently disconnects on PC

Controller never completely turns off but it will lose connection. Example: playing cod while ADS and holding both ads and fire triggers, randomly stops shooting and stops ADS. I’ve had my new pc ~10 months and this has happened roughly 5 times. The first 4 times I had to update windows and problem was fixed. This last time I’ve tried to update windows for multiple days, checked for graphics card updates, checked for Xbox controller updates etc. Ive also exited out of any open applications such as steam. I’ve removed and reconnected controller as a device multiple times as well.

Very frustrating for an expensive pc and controller.

I have the Xbox elite controller and I have the wireless adaptor. I’ve also tried to hardwire and same issue. Tried a separate stock Xbox controller and same issue.

Any ideas?

If the Xbox controller's inability to maintain a connection to the PC consistently happens, regardless of whether or not it's connected via bluetooth or hardwire, I'm leaning towards the problem being with the PC.

The following is only wild speculation, so please take it with a heavy grain of salt: there could be something wrong with the board itself if this is a problem happening with both the bluetooth and the USB connection, and not one or the other. That the problem comes up with every controller you try connecting seems to back this up.

Additional information that can help:

What model and make is the PC you're trying to connect to?
Does this happen with any other bluetooth devices? Headsets, speakers, mouse (even if it's minimal. Think something that just makes you go "Oh, this darn whatever always needs me to restart it"?)
Does this happen with the same controllers if you connect them to a whole other PC?

Just got a new controller and Xbox automatically updated controller firmware and right away the intermittent disconnects started.

Sadly it's not any better, but perhaps worse.
I've had a whole day of testing the controller with the cable connected to the controller without batteries with no issues whatsoever. However, I closed the whole PC down last night, woke up the next day and turned the PC on. I was about to start playing and sadly the controller has started doing the whole "briefly disconnecting intermittently every 30 seconds or so" once again.

It has come to this that no matter what I do, the process always somehow reverts back to the old habit of not being able to stay connected, or disconnects once connected intermittently. I've gone back and checked all the necessary moving parts are updated and it turns out everything is up to date. So I'm at a loss.

Same issue for me. Haven't been able to fix it. I'm also experiencing intermittent disconnecting and reconnecting with my controller, and I'm wondering if this battery issue is somehow related.

From reading previous posts I can see that the problem is an Xbox software problem and not just in my console, I think they should be doing a lot more to resolve this problem or else they could lose customers in the future
