xbox controller and headset on pc static

Please answer the following questions:

Do you know if your PC or drivers received an update recently?
If you connect another headset to the controller, the issue persists?
In case you have another controller, did you tried connecting the headsets to the other?
Are you on Windows? If yes, is 11 or 10?
Is this happening as soon as you connect the headset? Or is this happening in specific situations?

The headset works fine in other devices and when plugged into the front audio port on my pc. The static only occurs when it is plugged into my xbox one controller, and the controller port worked fine until I updated drivers.

That is an excellent question, and there are a few more things that we can do to determine the answer.

This isn't necessarily a permanent solution, just a step that you can do to pinpoint the root of the issue: Can you please try another chat headset? If possible, borrow a headset from a friend or family member and try it with your controller. If the static
stops, then we know there's a fault with your headset.

If the static continues, try your headset on a different controller. If THAT eliminates the static, then your controller is the cause.

If the static is still present no matter what combination of accessories you try, then please let us know and we'll be sure to look into this further on our end as well.

Do you have the official Xbox controller or a third party controller?

it would be worth cleaning the headset port on your controller as a precaution in case any debris is causing static.

Also the static / headset losing connection with the console may be similar to you walking away from your console. Once you get far enough away, you get static then it may lose the controller. I am 10 to 12 feet away only. I am wireless controller with
a plug and play at times. The headset is wired to controller.
