Xbox Console Renamed Itself and Controller no longer works

Hello - I turned on my Xbox Series X last night and immediately I noticed that the controller was extremely sensitive. So much so its now unusable.

As well the Xbox console has renamed itself from what I originally called it during set up to "XBOX"

There has been to updates since 01/07/22 and no updates are available. The controller also has no updates available.

Has anyone heard anything like this or know a fix/what happened?

I'll suggest you try doing a factory reset keeping games and apps on your console. This will refresh the console and remove all potential bugs without deleting any game data.

- Press the Xbox button to open the guide.

- Select Profile & system > Settings > System > Console info.

- Select Reset console.

- Choose Keep Games and Apps

Once that is done, you'll need to sign into the console using your Microsoft account credentials. If the issue is with your console, that should fix it.

I had this issue too. I fixed it in the following way:

- Turn off your Xbox by pressing the power button on the console itself (white Xbox logo).

- Wait for all the lights to turn off on every device (Kinect, controller and the console itself).

- Power on your console by pressing the white Xbox logo on the controller itself, not the console.

Everything worked as intended after that.

So are you saying that the controller itself isnt working or are you having a problem with the console itself?

I'm now receiving error 0x80242020 after doing up to renaming windowsapps to windowsapps.old, I don't have a wpsystem.old folder so i can't rename the wpsystem folder itself
