XBOX console muted, can't get it off.

We thank you for bringing this inquiry to our forums community, and would like to confirm that this concerns the muted microphone symbol appearing.

Are you experiencing a sound quality issue, or an issue with sound missing on your console? If this only concerns the symbol mentioned above, this would mean that there is not a headset connected with a detectable microphone. You would have this symbol if
you didn't have a headset plugged in, or if the headset plugged in is not being recognized by your controller.

Our suggestion here, please attempt to test a different controller, as well as attempt following our
Xbox One Chat Headset troubleshooting support article for related steps.

Try this out for us and then let us know the results.

Thanks for the reply. So, this is happening on both headsets with three different headsets. The mute icon button is also present when NO headsets are plugged in.

I can hear sound via the TV. Please help!

I think this person means that the Microphone seems to be set on Mute? And can't turn it off.

If your on ghost, get into a game press start then go to the 'mute players' option, in mute all, then for good measure go to 'mute groups' then select turn mute off.

You set the volume on the TV to zero or "mute" (if the latter doesn't leave a MUTE icon on the screen). There are no options to turn it off on the console.
