xbox.com doesn't consider my account as an adult because I got an update early.

To clear things up for you and to more or less simplify the errors occurring, a
child account can only be created when going through the process of creating an adult account and then paying the .50
cents attached to add a child account.

In this case, the account would only be claimed as a child account if the date of birth was set within that age range, as then the account would need to await it's
graduation date, or rather when it reaches the age of 18.

Another possibility is the current settings applied to the account through the
Xbox privacy and online safety settings.

Go through each provided piece of information and let us know the results.
