Xbox cloud gaming cross-console chat problems Macbook to Xbox One

I'm playing Fortnite on a MacBook air via xbox cloud gaming. The people in my party are using a console and I can't hear them. When the game starts, I get an error message from Fortnite saying my teammates are trying to communicate with me, but can't hear me. I'm instructed to click on a button with 3 horizontal lines, but I can't do it via the controller and the mouse won't click on it. Am I even able to chat with people playing on different consoles? I'm using MacBook mic, so it's not a Bluetooth headphones setting. Any suggestions? Thanks.

You need to give access from your browser to the microphone in your MacOs settings. You'll have to consult your manual on how to do that

Use the mic and video for FaceTime. Doesn’t that mean it has access? I also gave access via Xbox cloud settings

There are no plans for cross console chat support and you can find it on many news sites -

Microsoft have other things to concentrate on adding to Xbox One without adding cross generation chat. If you want cross generation chat use the Skype app on both consoles.

As others have said in this thread, Microsoft have confirmed Xbox 360 and ONE users won't be able to chat but can still send messages.
