Xbox capture option is not recording a full 30seconds

“First please follow this:
1. Press the Xbox button to open the guide.
2. Select System > Settings > Preferences.
3. Under Capture & share, please choose don't allow game captures

Then we will powercycle:
1. Turn off your console by holding the Xbox button on the front of the console for approximately 10 seconds. The console will turn off.
2. Turn your console back on by pressing the Xbox button on the console or the Xbox button on your controller.

Lastly, Allow the game captures again:
1. Press the Xbox button to open the guide.
2. Select System > Settings > Preferences.
3. Under Capture & share, please choose allow game captures”

I understand on Xbox press the center button on the Xbox controller to bring up the options menu. Access the “Capture and share” tab and select one of the options “Record what happened”, “Start recording” or “Take screenshot”.

Please restart and update your console. Make sure you perform a full power cycle by turning off completely, unplug a few minutes, then plug back in. After restarting, check for any system or app updates because Xbox updates can fix underlying bugs that affect features like game capturing.

And then review capture and share settings. To do this, navigate to Settings > Preferences > Capture & Share on your Xbox. Look for options related to audio capture. Ensure that the setting for “Record audio when I record game clips” (or a similarly named option) is enabled.

Next is to check in-game and headset audio configurations because there are games have their own audio options or may mute audio during certain modes or transitions.

To rule out a game-specific issue, please record clips from another game. If the other game captures include audio, the problem might be isolated to the game you were initially using. If incase no game captures have audio on all games, it means that the issue is with the system itself.

If the issue persist after performing the troubleshooting steps kindly clear local storage for captures because an overflow or corruption in the saved game clips can affect new recordings. Please consider deleting some older captures and check if it works.

From the sound of it, you want to record your gameplay for YouTube? The YouTube app does not have that option. The only way you could to that is to record your gameplay using either the record that option on the Xbox, or invest in a video capture device for your pc, which you can connect your Xbox to, so you can record the videos for YouTube.

I think the reason for the random clip records are the settings made in the "Capture & Share" there is an option called "allow game captures"

make sure that you have this on and not turned off I suggest you to put this to "captures by me" only else some games will record clips randomly this mostly happens if you get an achievement. You can find this in the Settings -> Preferences -> Capture &
Share options.

Also please make sure that you have the capture location set correctly on your Xbox in here at the same "Capture & Share" options.

If you want to make clips to the internal drive make sure that you have enough space on it. If you want to make clips on an external drive that you connected to your Xbox then you have to select it in the "capture location" settings.

I want to point out that if you are live streaming or streaming games from your Xbox to your PC it wont be able to record clips.
