Xbox can't connect to router

Hi Ian,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Xbox Community. I'm sorry to hear that you're having issues connecting your console to your router. I understand that it does not work on Ethernet and Wi-Fi. As part of our isolation, please try to clear your MAC address.

To clear your MAC address and restart your console, follow these steps:

Press the Xbox button to open the guide.

Select Profile & system, then Settings.

In the General tab, select Network settings > Advanced settings > Alternate MAC address > Clear.

Restart your console. Press and hold the Xbox button in the center of your controller to open the Power Center.

Select Restart console and then select Restart. (If the console appears to be frozen, press and hold the Xbox button on the console for 10 seconds, until the console turns off. After the console shuts down, touch the Xbox button on the console again to restart.)

Sign in to your console.

Can't connect to what? Router? internet? Xbox?

The Xbox error message is something about can't connect to this router ..

Im thinking that the problem will continue, as long as i try to use a wireless connection. I dont think it is a router issue as everything is wireless, and everything set up nicely on all devices. Including other consoles, i.e. xbox 360, WiiU and Wii.

Our xbox one will be the only thing wired in as thats the only thing that works. As of IP address, it is correct. We have already spoken to our provider as additional trouble shooting.

Thank you XBF, i will try the suggested as that is one step i have not done as of yet. Hardwire and or doing factory reset.

my only concern with doing a reset is loosing any information that is on that system.
