    I've seen plenty of other stories from people about xbox black screens. But none quite like my situation. My xbox one glitched for several minutes during a game update. Most of the functions still worked fine but I couldn't play any games and the download had stopped completely. I paused the download to see if that was the source of the problems and it did nothing to fix it. I restarted the xbox and when it turned back on it went through the usual green loading screen with the logo. Then it cut to a black screen and the little greeting message popped up but it did not go to my home screen even after several minutes of waiting. However, holding down the xbox button does cause the "Turn off console/Turn off controller/Restart console" menu to pop up like usual. But that's it, the standard xbox pop-up menu does not work, nor does anything else. Since then I have restarted it several times and in several different ways. I've even attempted some of the solutions presented on this website for similar but not identical situations. Like switching HDMIs and attempting a factory reset. None have worked. Please help.

    Video proof...or it didn't happen.

    People who claim to see black screens can't tell the difference between a real black screen and a lag black screen.

    Just because you get a black screen, doesn't man that better players get black screens.

    Maybe you get a black screen because you can't play as well as you think you can.

    I've olny ever seen a black screen once and that was ages ago when the game was newly released.

    343/Microsoft will detect black screens and ban them.

    Black screens are only seen from your xbox's point of view.

    Xbox one powering on to a black screen after logo screen.

    During normal start up it will go to the green xbox screen with loading dots on the bottom then it will display a black screen. If the black screen is what your talking about give it a minute for the xbox logo to pop up. The console is loading the dashboard
    when you see that screen.
