XBox Beta App keeps trying to force me to create an account.

So recently, my friend gave me money to get Nitro on Discord and get the XBox Game Pass for PC. Having not had an xbox in years, but having had an account with achievements, games, e.c.t. on it, I got excited and got it.

I have two email addresses, one that I've had since I was 18, which isn't exactly C.V. friendly, that I've used for all gaming related stuff, including XBox Live for the past ten years. My other email isn't linked to anything remotely to do with the former.
(this is relevant I swear).

So I installed the XBox PC App so I could use my shiny new game pass and have a look at what was on offer. I went to have a nose at Pillar's of Eternity, a game I've wanted for a while, and clicked on "Play with Game Pass." I got directed, in the app to
a place to purchase the pass. It was at this point I realised I hadn't signed in. So I clicked on sign in, and instead of being given an option to type in my email and password for my existing xbox live account, the same email which I used to claim my game
pass through discord, instead it keeps trying to force me to make an account with my non-gaming email address. There's no option to bypass this or say "I've already got an account." it just says my work email in the top right corner, and insists I create an
account. I don't even have the option to click back.

It's getting really frustrating, I was even logged into my live account to download the beta app.

TL;DR: Xbox Beta App won't let me sign in using existing xbox account details, keeps insisting I make an account with the work email it's detected on my system. How do I fix this?

Hi,

I gave in and created an xbox live account with my work email, after doing this I was able to sign out, sign back in and then opt to switch accounts to my already existing live account. I feel like there should have been an option to sign in with an existing
account from word go, but it's sorted now.

Try signing into your work account, and then sign out. Sometimes that triggers the "sign in another account" screen. Alternatively, try signing into a different microsoft portal like xbox rewards, xbox.com, outlook, etc.

You can try to subscribe through the website instead of the app.

Not sure about other regions, but for NZ, it forces you to install the app. However I was able to subscribe to it via Microsoft Store. The Xbox (Beta) app wouldn't even sign me in - it just doesn't do anything when I click on Sign In.

Thanks for the tip. Yes, that fixed the issue for me! For several reasons, the Xbox account I use is different than the account used for the Microsoft Store app. I had no idea the Xbox beta standalone app would tie in to the Store for authentication. I don't
want to be forced to continually sign in/out with different accounts in the store app to make this work right. Hopefully, Microsoft will provide built in authentication and standalone capabilities to the Xbox app itself.

Hi Vinincius,

Thanks for coming to the forums. We recommend to sign out of both the Xbox beta app and companion app. Once you sign out force shut down all applications. Then relaunch the two apps and sign back in. Then try and launch the game.
