    Xbox backwards compatibility with problems connecting to Live


    So for what i can Google I'm not the only one having this issue...

    On 2 machines a Xbox One S and an X, one day randomly my 360 "emulated" games no longer were able to connect to Xbox Live ( funny both times were after installing Sega classic Sonic the hedgehog) .... So i did all i could think and suggested on several forums
    and nothing worked.... (Btw at this point i was unable to download the 360 profile after deleting it from the One. It always return an error saying it could not connect and to check network).

    I reset MAC, delete 360 Storage, full reset the console, changed DNS provider, even checked if my MTU was 1500 (someone explained why this was important but i cant remember....), Test all my network equipment, tested other ISP via cellular network and nothing....
    The problem never got solved. I complained to Ms tech support and to this day I'm waiting for a official solution....

    But today i was in a mood to keep trying, after seeing the same error everytime, and after 10 to 15 attempts magic happens.... Instead of the "check network" i was greeted with the "insert email address of live account" just like when you add other profiles.

    I've entered my mail plus pwd and surprise: my profile was downloaded, my saves sync, and everything back to normal....

    So i guess the unofficial solution is to keep trying until the system kicks you to the "insert user + pwd" screen ????

    Anyway i hope this helps others with the same problem.

    I'm currently having the same exact issue. I can't connect any of my backwards compatible games to Xbox Live on my Xbox One. I've restarted twice and checked my internet. Neither of these are the issues. My NAT is open and evrything else is fine. I can't
    connect to Xbox Live on backwards compatible games at all!

    Hi there,

    please double check if your Xbox One console is fully updated (and connected to Xbox Live) since this is a requirement to install a Backward compatible game.

    When using a disc the backward compatible game will still be downloaded from Xbox Live, since that is the backward compatible version (it will require the play disc to be inserted in order to play the game)

    Since you mentioned discs, please be sure to insert the correct one (when console is connected and is updated). that usually should trigger installation.

    Bumping this because I have the same problem. I've played on the 360 before but it won't connect to live through the the backwards compatibility. I deleted my profile and tried to redownload but it just says it can't connect to live.
