    Xbox Backwards Compatibility Purchasing


    When I go to buy a game that’s Xbox One Backwards Compatible on my Xbox One Console, I get an error message that tells me I can’t make this type of purchase on Xbox.com and that I must do it on the console.

    The issue is that same message appears when I’m trying to make the purchase on my console.

    How can I fix this?

    Sonic demo isn't working?

    Hey there freakyboy86,

    Backwards Compatibility only works for full titles that are available on the backwards compatibility list. Game Demos are not included in the backwards compatibility feature. If you want to try a specific Xbox 360 game out before purchasing and downloading,
    you will need to download the demo on an actual Xbox 360 console.

    That message usually comes up for 1 of 2 reasons. If you're on a child account you would need to make the purchase from a 360 console. Otherwise, make sure you have a credit card or Paypal on file in order to make the purchase.

    any content that is backwards compatible and purchased digitally with your Xbox Live Account should be visible in the Ready to Install section on the Xbox One.

    The One store/website have never been updated to work with the currency system for backwards compatible content. The only way to purchase backwards compatible games with the funds on your account is through a 360 console.

    If you're on a Xbox One console, and are trying to purchase the game it would say whether or not you can under backwards compatibility. If the option isn't there, it's not backwards compatible but you can also check here: https://www.xbox.com/en-AU/xbox-one/backward-compatibility
