Xbox auto redownloading games by itself

I had to update my game and the update was only 2gb so i left my xbox on to let the game update because it was going to take a while, but when came back to it later it was reinstalling the 30 gb game insted of just updateing the 2gbs so i had to waste
30 extra gb, does anyone know why it did that

Some updates actually replace huge sections of the game so large updates like 20 Gb are not uncommon. You don`t lose any space as the update just overwrites what is already on the HDD for that particular game.

Did you delete the game or the game save? Game saves can't be restored. If it was the game itself, you can redownload it from your download history.support.xbox.com/.../redownload-content

This happens all the time. It's live not your xbox, sorry if i'm repeating. It will auto-correct itself eventually, shouldn't take to long! Happy Gaming!

It could be down to the game itself, the auto settings in game or if the game allows you to broadcast game chat.

Anything you purchase can be redownloaded later from your download history. So if you upgrade the console itself you can still redownload the game.
