    Xbox audio issue *hardware related*


    After experimenting with settings. Factory reset. New optical and hdmi cables and different headsets I've determined the processor that does the audio is broken.

    I've been dealing with very poor audio

    After spending a bunch on new speakers I get the same results. Optical to ave. HDMI to soundbar or even tv speakers I get horrible sound quality. It does sound good for first 5 minutes into the movie or game then quality sounds horrible.

    I got myself a headset wireless and it also has the same issue! Poor quality audio but even gets so bad it gets choppy and sometimes quits all together. After shutting the movie down or game the sound is better for a bit. It doesn't matter what settings I select I've tried them all!

    I have done the thermal paste and I did reuse the tacky goop on the smaller chips. This helped alot with the fan speed. I never have the fan speed get so high anymore.

    The Xbox does have incredible amount of heat coming from it. Is it possible the fan failed? Or isn't as strong as it was? Maybe I did a good thermal paste but damaged the fan some how.

    The Xbox is pretty slow still. Could heat still be an issue?

    I saw this happening with some people. How are your audio settings inside Xbox? Is HDMI Audio on or Optical Audio on?

    You'll need to try different audio configurations to see if one makes this audio issue go away. If it's a no audio at all issue it's easier to find what the problem is, but for intermittent audio issues (specially just for a couple of seconds each hour) it'll be very hard to find what the issue is.

    But please, if you can, try playing with different audio settings and output and see if the problem goes away.
