    Xbox asking me to reinstall a game already installed on external hard drive


    Hi, I have For Honor installed on my hard drive and when I insert the disc to play, it tries to install on the local drive where there is not enough room. When I cancel installation and try to launch the game from the tile in my games and apps, it takes
    me directly to the store and wants me to buy the digital copy. Is anyone aware of a fix for this that will allow me to play my game without having to reinstall from scratch please?

    Try removing the game, power cycling, & reinstalling it.

    Installation stopped on hard copy game

    Not sure if you fixed it already but I was having the same problem. However it was with Samurai Showdown. I have the Xbox version but of course the beautiful free upgrade that comes with it is necessary these days. I put the game in and was asked about the upgrade, said yes and bam. Installation stopped. So what I found that helped me is this. Not sure if you have an external hard drive but this is what I did.

    I put my external hard drive as the default because of the amount of xbox games I have that aren't capable with the series x upgrade. Uninstall the game and put the disk in and reinstall it onto your external hard drive. if it asks, say yes to the upgrade, it will then ask if you would like to put the game on the internal storage so that it works better. Put install onto the external hard drive anyways. It will then start installing. Once finished, go to your external hard drive and move it into the internal hard drive and now let that beautiful upgrade happen. Now you have your game installed and your upgrade happening as well. HAPPY GAMING!

    There is a possibility that there is either a connection issue with your external hard drive or somehow the external drive is corrupted. One possible solution is to uninstall the game and then reinstall the game. Try installing the game on only the internal Xbox hard drive to see if that fixes the problem. Also, try launching other games on your external hard drive to see if how those games are functioning normally.

    Uninstall and reinstall the game:

    Uninstall MSFS 2024 completely.

    Reinstall the game.

    7. Try to fix the installation file:

    On Steam, you can try to "fix" or "restore" the game's installation file, if available.

    8. Check if MSFS 2024 is installed on the external hard drive:

    Flight Simulator X may have issues if installed on an external hard drive
