Xbox applications can't sign me in to Xbox live with my account

Hello,

I didn't try to sign in to my account for about two weeks. I wanted to sign in yesterday to play Sea of Thieves for the new update.

I'm on Windows 10 and the XBOX application can't sign me in with my main account. I tried with another one and it's completely fine so I think it's specific to my main account.

When I mention "can't sign me in", that's literally what the applications show: "We can't sign you in to Xbox Live right now. Try again in a while. If that doesn't work, we have a few ideas that might help fix the problem". I can try again, to no result. If I switch account, it works fine.

I checked the associated link, but can't find anything helpful. I have no real error message so I'm lost, this error message happened yesterday, and one day later it's still happening right now.

I'm sorry you are experiencing this on your Microsoft account. I know how frustrating it can be since I'm player just like you. Don't worry, let me help you.

In order for us to isolate the issue, please try to sign into different browsers (try Google Chrome), devices (Mobile phone or desktop/laptop) or network services (mobile data or other network services) to sign in to account.microsoft.com, account.xbox.com and Xbox app using your main account.

Once you're done, let me know the results.

Actually, quick update. I followed one additional troubleshoot page from Microsoft, running a few Powershell commands (here for others that would have the same issue:

to remove the GamingServices and reinstall, rebooted my laptop and it finally logged me in.

I'm happy this managed to solve my issue. It seems there was an issue with the previous installation.

Thanks a lot!

So, I can log in both account.microsoft.com and account.xbox.com on laptop (multiple browsers) and mobile with my account. It really is specific to the Xbox application and my main account.

Just because you can't sign in on XBox doesn't mean the suspension came from something that happened on XBox. If that account was used anywhere on any Microsoft application or platform to engage in harassment or otherwise bad behavior, you'll get an error message indicating you cannot sign in using that account. In the case you stated above, you tried to use that account on XBox or XBox Live; that's why it says you can't log on to XBox or XBox Live.
