Xbox app remote control not working

It's not just a lack of support for the Xbox One Media Remote. I have a Logitech Harmony Remote that works with the Xbox One and it also doesn't work with the YouTube App. The only device that seems to work with the YouTube app is the controller. It's a
shame since the Xbox One Media Remote works really well in other apps like Twitch,Crackle and Machinama.

I have the same problem, but in my case, it is the Logitech Harmony remote that cannot control either the Netflix or YouTube apps. Apparently, it is IR based remotes that don't work. Here is what I have found out:

1. In may case, the problem applies to a Logitech Harmony Smart Control remote, but from forums, I have seen similar reports regarding other IR based remotes.

2. So far, I have observed the problem on the YouTube and Netflix apps.

3. Play, pause and directional buttons do not work.

4. The Home button works so I can get to the Home screen from these apps using the remote.

5. If I turn on the Xbox One controller, the remote appears to work as expected, but when the controller automatically turns itself off, the remote stops working.

6. I have uninstalled both apps, restarted the Xbox and reinstalled the apps. The problem remains.

I'm having similar problems. Remote play is not working but I think the app can comunciate with the console because I see the library and I can change the name of the console in the app.

If I rename the Xbox console on the Xbox settings, remote playing starts working. But after a few hours, the problem again.

Another problem I have is with the remote controller of the app and with the connection from digital assistants. Remote conroller and digital assistants don't work until I change the xbox name on the xbox settings.

Here are a few troubleshooting tips you can try:
1. Clear your app cache.
2. Uninstall remote app > Restart device > Install remote app.
3. Power cycle your console.
4. Uninstall the Xbox app from Console that is not responding to remote control > Restart Console > Install App.
5. Reset your console to factory settings.

Try connecting your Xbox app to your Xbox and then your controller to your phone, and using remote play I fixed it then just connected my controller back to my Xbox. It worked for me.
