Xbox App on PC won't allow me to change my installation location to my D: Drive

Recently I have purchased Xbox Game Pass on my Windows 11 PC however I cannot change my installation to my D: Drive and get the drive issue "D: - This drive isn't formatted as NTFS. (it is NTFS)

I checked my sector size and its not 4K. I have tried split partitioning the D: Drive to F: Drive at 4096 sector size and when I click the F: Drive on the Xbox app it switches back to C: Drive automatically.

Is there a way to resolve this issue? I have seen it online alot and after so much troubleshooting end up right where I started with no fix.

    Thanks.

Forza Horizon 3 Will not download

Found the problem. Had to change the default save location for apps from the windows store from my main drive (C:) to my game drive (D:). There appears to be a problem with the drop-down menu save location. Now it is installing without issue

Can't change installation location from C: to D: drive at all

Nope, that didn't solve the issue. Still only giving me the option for my C: drive. I should note that the app does show my D: drive in the settings but won't save it as a default installation spot but whenever I go to download a game it won't let me change it

Problem with installation of PC Game Pass Games on disk D:

Hello, PabloVega. Thanks for reaching out! My name is Lucas, and I'm an Independent Advisor and a Microsoft user just like you. I'll be happy to assist you today.

Do you know if your D: drive is NTFS? Game Pass only allow games to be installed on NTFS partitions.

    - Please go to Start > Computer > Right Click the drive you wish to check > Properties.

    - In the Disk Properties window, you will see it next to File system. Please let me know if it is FAT32 or NTFS.

If the drive is NTFS, please make sure you set your default install location to the D drive:

    - Open the Xbox App.

    - Click on your Profile picture > Select Settings.

    - In the Xbox Settings, go to General Section > Game install options.

    - Click on the drop-down and change it to the D drive.

Also try changing the default location for new apps in Windows:

    - Go to Start (Windows Start) -> Settings -> System -> Storage -> Change where new content is saved (under 'More Storage Settings').

    - Change the setting "New Apps will install to:" to the drive you want to use. Restart your computer and see if you are able to install games on your D: drive.

Please let me know how it goes.

How do i add space from 1 drive to another.

    Hi Samantha!

Have you already changed your install location through the Xbox app?

Open your Xbox app > Settings > General. Set your location to D drive where you want to install your new games

Error installing games through Xbox app on PC.

Thank you! I had a look at the links you posted and decided to try changing the default install location of apps to a different drive. Changed it from D: to E: in my case and then back to D: like I originally wanted, kind of similar to what they did here - https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us...8aa-958d-41c4421389b4?rtAction=1509849541131.

This seemed to recreate the WindowsApps folder in my D: drive which must have recreated the correct registry keys.

Tried installing the games to the D: drive again and it worked! Hope this also helps someone else.
