    Xbox App on PC - Error code 0x800706b5 when installing games


    I have the xbox app installed on my Windows 10 PC. I have tried installing several games. Each downloads fine, but then errors when trying to install with the error code 0x800706b5.

    I have tried

    • SFC and DISM
    • Resetting the xbox app
    • Reinstalling the xbox app
    • Resetting Windows update
    I used to have 2 updates failing to install (.NET 5 Client updates). I think they wouldn't install because I have more recent updates installed. I have since hidden both updates, so Windows Updates shows no pending updates, but this hasn't helped with the installation of the games.

    Hi there Felna welcome to the community forum! Christopher here, an Xbox fan just like you and has been on Xbox for years already. I would really love to make your day by helping you out. I had the 0x800 issue around a year ago. I could tell you all the 10 steps I followed to solve it, unfortunately what helped me to solved this was to restart my PC as it comes here:

    In the part of Windows 10 click on "Reset this PC" these instructions will help you to solve the problem, you can even leave your important files!

    These issues with the XBOX app are very frustrating.

    Thank you, Christopher. Resetting the PC did work.

    Although I still dislike that this is necessary, I appreciate your suggestion that considering everything else I've tried, it was likely the only thing that would work
