Xbox App Notification Issues on iPhone & iPad – Persistent Problem Across Multiple Devices...

Dear Xbox Support,

I am experiencing a persistent issue where the Xbox app does not send any notificationsfor messages, party invites, friend requests, or other alerts on both my iPhone and iPad.

• No push notifications appear (banners, sounds, lock screen alerts, or pop-ups).

• No badge icons display on the app.

• Even when the app is open, messages arrive with no pop-up or sound alert.

• The app did not initially appear in Focus settings (I had to manually add it).

• The app does not update in the background properly.

This issue affects multiple devices, multiple Xbox accounts, and multiple networks (WiFi & 5G). Other apps on my devices receive notifications without issue, so this appears to be an Xbox app-specific bug.

Devices Affected:

• iPhone (latest iOS version installed)

• iPad (latest iPadOS version installed)

• Two different Xbox accounts tested (same issue on both)

Issue Details:

• No notifications appear at all (banners, lock screen alerts, sounds, or badge icons).

• No pop-ups appear even when the app is open.

• The app did not appear in Focus settings initially (I had to manually add it).

• The issue persists across multiple devices and accounts, proving it’s not device- or account-specific.

• Happens on both WiFi and 5G, ruling out a network issue.

• The app does not seem to update in the background properly, even with background app refresh enabled.

• Other apps (WhatsApp, Discord, Microsoft Teams, etc.) send notifications normally, proving the issue is Xbox app-specific.

Troubleshooting Steps Taken (None Worked):

1. Checked iOS Notification Settings:

• Settings > Notifications > Xbox → Allow Notifications is ON

• Banners, Sounds, and Badges are enabled

• Persistent banner style selected

2. Checked Notification Settings in the Xbox App:

• Opened the Xbox app > Settings > Notifications

• Verified that all notification types are enabled

3. Checked Focus Mode and Do Not Disturb:

• Xbox app was NOT appearing in Focus settings initially

• Manually added Xbox to allowed apps in Focus mode

• Do Not Disturb is OFF

4. Checked Background App Refresh & Battery Settings:

• Background App Refresh is ON for the Xbox app

• The app does not update notifications in the background properly

• Low Power Mode is OFF

5. Reinstalled the Xbox App:

• Deleted the app from both iPhone and iPad

• Restarted both devices

• Reinstalled the app from the App Store and signed in again

6. Reset iOS Notification Permissions:

• Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Reset > Reset Location & Privacy

• Opened Xbox app and re-enabled notifications

7. Tested With Multiple Xbox Accounts:

• Switched to a different Xbox account on iPad and sent messages between my iPhone and iPad

• Neither device received notifications from the other account

8. Checked Xbox Live Service Status:

• No reported notification issues on the Xbox Live Status page

Conclusion:

Since this issue affects multiple devices, multiple accounts, different networks, and persists despite extensive troubleshooting, it appears to be a bug in the Xbox app’s push notification system on iOS/iPadOS.
