    XBOX App Not Seeing Multiple NTFS Drives


    I am having an issue with the XBOX for PC application (app version 2505.1001.9.0, Gaming Services version 28.100.8001.0, Game Bar version 7.325.5191.0) where it will not see multiple NTFS drives. I tried chatting with a "Community Expert" who referred me to this forum as nothing he suggested worked and the next step would be getting an entirely new PC (yes, that was the next suggestion). Steps taken:

    - Drive re-formatted and confirmed to be NTFS with sectors of 4096 bytes (default)

    - Application uninstalled, all folders deleted, PC restarted, application reinstalled using https://www.xbox.com/en-US/apps/xbox-app-on-pc

    - Copied .GamingRoot file from C: drive to new drive, created a folder "XboxGames" on the new drive, then restarted the application

    - Drive volume deleted, drive formatted as exFAT, volume deleted again, drive formatted as NTFS sectors 4096, restarted the computer, started the application

    - Searched countless Microsoft Answers and Reddit threads hoping for answer since this issue was reported at least as far back as 2023 (https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us...s/ac81fad8-2db8-4155-8880-ec8761aba1a2?page=1)

    - Came here as my last resort before giving up on the XBOX App

    Yes, it's formatted at NTFS.

    I tried installing on multiple drives, no luck.

    I can't download pc gamepass games to my external ssd D Drive.

    We can try create another partition, then designate that new partition as where new apps are going to be installed and finally try on the Xbox App to see if now you're able to select the new drive.
    (Don't forget to create the new partition as NTFS?

    In case that you was able to select that new partition, the best option would be format the desired one as NTFS and assign that drive to install new apps by default again

    Do you know if your D: drive is NTFS? The Xbox App only allow games to be installed on NTFS partitions.

    - Go to Start > Computer > Right Click the D: drive > Properties.

    - In the Disk Properties window, you will see it next to File system.

    - If it is FAT32, please let me know so I can give you step by step how to convert it to NTFS.

    If it is NTFS, let's try to change the default installation drive for Windows apps:

    Go to Start (Windows Start) -> Settings -> System -> Storage -> Change where new content is saved (under 'More Storage Settings'). Change the setting "New Apps will install to:" to the drive you want to use.

    Restart your computer and see if you are able to install games on the D: drive using the Xbox App.

    the xbox formats to ex-fat, it can read and write to ntfs, fat32 and ex-fat. plenty of free apps available on mac to format external drives to ntfs though.

    I have tried it and I apologise for the late response. Still nothing the xbox app sees the external hard drive as a FAT and not NTFS. And tried even changing download directory everything and still no results
