Xbox app new update. Messaging

Xbox app is always broken with messages. Ms constantly disabled the notifications message feature with new versions. You have to re enable them. And I can’t message anyone since the newest update. It says privacy settings are not set to allow it. Go to Xbox.com
and change them. Last week it was fine. Then a new update. Totally broke messages. A couple days later a new update. Fixed messaging. But now I can’t. I’ve never changed privacy settings. And I just looked and there is nothing to do with messaging. I’ve reinstalled
the app. Please fix yer app ms!!!!

Unfortunately the new app does not not include the feature to message people who is not on your friend list. Hopefully we will get more features back again in later updates, but the new app is really limited.

To message friends, go to the Social tap (The 2 people icon), select the friend and use the 'send a message' button.

That doesn’t work for me. I didn’t have a problem with old messages on there before, why does it start now? Is there any new suggestion or update from xbox any time soon.

What error / issue are you having with Messages on the Xbox app?

Another recommendation is to try the Beta Xbox app which resolves the issue of Messages not loading. Or wait till the Beta fixes get released.

Okay, I deleted all messages in the smartglass app *except* an empty message from Xbox Live that seems to have appeared with the update to the new UI (just a guess, can't confirm). Still no joy. I *thought* that this empty Xbox Live message was some sort
of reserved system thing, but the smartglass app let me delete it, and once I did so, messaging on xbox.com started working again. Thanks for the tip, shotinthefoot2!
