    Hello,

    I have recently acquired an Asus ROG Zephyrus and a Lenovo Legion Go - I'm encountering an issue with the xbox app on both devices:

    Upon launching the app, I get a "Xbox needs an update" message on BOTH devices. There are no available updates in the store. I had uninstalled the app from the "Installed Programs" in system settings, and then downloaded the app from the Microsoft website on both devices, and unable to install the app o both devices.

    The xbox app was then uninstallable from the Microsoft store. I had to reset my PC to get the xbox app again.

    At this point, I think there is a problem with the app itself.

    I have tried numerous troubleshooting steps, but to no avail.

    Please help. This issue is extremely frustrating.

    You should try reinstalling the Xbox App with Clean Boot. Basically, you just need to perform a clean boot on your laptops to start Windows with a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This can help eliminate software conflicts. And after performing a clean boot, try reinstalling the Xbox app from the Microsoft Store.

    It seems that you are having issues with Xbox app in your devices that started with the error that the app needs an update and the issue persist despite performing some troubleshooting steps. We apologized for the inconvenience this has caused you. Let us help you get to the bottom of this.

    We would like to ask few questions to help us isolate the issue further.

    1. Can you provide us the version of Windows you are using? To do so, press the Windows key + R and type winver in the run dialog box.

    2. Are you using third-party antivirus?

    3. Is your device connected with domain or VPN?

    4. Are you getting an error reinstalling the game Xbox app?

    5. Does resetting your PC did not restore back your Xbox app?

    For the meantime, here are the troubleshooting steps below:

    1. Make sure Windows is up to date.

    • Press the Start button on the taskbar, type settings, and then select Settings.
    • On Windows 10, select Update & Security. On Windows 11, select Windows Update.
    • On the Windows Update page, select Check for updates to see if any updates are available
    including optional updates for your device.

    • Once the updates have downloaded, select Install now to start the installation.
    • Following installation, we recommend that you restart your device so that the latest updates can take effect.
    2. If you have third-party antivirus, try disabling for a while and try downloading Xbox app again.

    3. Reset Microsoft Store.

    • Press Windows key + R and type wsreset.exe then hit enter.
    • An empty Command prompt will pop open. Let it be for a few seconds and the command line will close automatically (after it has cleared the cache behind the background) and Microsoft Store will be launched in its place.

    4. Reset Xbox app.

    • Press the Windows key + I to open Settings.
    • Click on Apps.
    • Scroll down and click on Xbox.
    • Click on Advanced options.
    • Click on Reset.

    If the steps do not help resolve the issue, we encourage to provide your feedback using the Feedback hub for Windows so this can be investigated by our engineers. We have seen spike of this issue recently and might be a bug with the app. We will also consult this to our internal support team at the same time.
