Xbox App Issues (File system error(-2147219196))

Hi, Tristan! It's my pleasure to assist you with this today.

Please try to follow these steps. Make sure to close any games and applications before proceeding.

Press Windows Key + R to open Run

Type "control.exe keymgr.dll" and hit Enter. This should open Credential Manager

Click "Windows Credentials"

Scroll down to "Generic Credentials" and look for every single one that starts with "Xbl". This includes XblGrts, Xbl| and Xbl_Ticket.

Then remove them all one by one.

Ensure that you are on the most recent version of the Xbox app

Microsoft Store app > Downloads > Get updates/Update all

Ensure that you have updated your PC to the most recent version of Windows, including optional updates

PC Settings > Windows Update > Check for updates > Install

Open the Microsoft Store by pressing Windows Key + S, typing Microsoft Store, and selecting App Settings.

Click on Repair and then Reset the app.

Repeat the same process for the Xbox App and Forza Horizon 5 Game

Restart Your Device:

After repairing and resetting both apps, restart your device.

Sign back into both the Xbox App and the Microsoft Store using the same email.

Pretty much my problem, except there's not even any launcher start up for me, just an error message saying file system error (-2147219196)... I've tried so many solutions on forum posts on similar problems with other games and none of them have worked for
me

I tried searching the internet to see if someone had posted this issue but did not find anything. A general solution for File System Errors though was to uninstall the App/Game and then reinstall. I know that is probably not ideal but I did not see other
solutions out there for File System Errors.

I had this issue. It turns out there was a corrupt save file (it was a game recording) in the save files. Xbox Live Home Screen-> Settings-> System-> Storage-> Hard Drive ->Games and Apps-> Mw3 I deleted it and now the Multiplayer Screen runs without error.
