I tried installing games from the Xbox app using my D: drive but it won't allow me because the app says "This drive isn't formatted as NTFS". I am able to use my C: drive though but I don't have much space on it. This issue has only occurred on the Xbox app so I think the problem is on the app itself. Hoping for a solution, thank you.

Xbox app isn't allowing me to install games on my D: drive because it isn't NTFS even though it is formatted as NTFS.

Hello, I'm Felipe and I'm an independent Community Advisor, and I'll do my best to help you.

It's possible that there is a configuration issue with the Xbox app, or that the app is not properly recognizing the format of your D: drive. Here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try to resolve the issue:

Check the drive format: Double-check that your D: drive is formatted as NTFS. You can do this by right-clicking on the drive in File Explorer, selecting "Properties," and then looking at the "File system" field. If the drive is not formatted as NTFS, you may need to reformat it.

Run the Xbox app as administrator: Right-click on the Xbox app icon and select "Run as administrator." This may help the app recognize the format of your D: drive and allow you to install games on it.

Reinstall the Xbox app: If running the app as administrator doesn't work, try reinstalling the app. To do this, open the Start menu, find the Xbox app, right-click on it, and select "Uninstall." Then, go to the Microsoft Store, search for the Xbox app, and reinstall it.

Contact Microsoft support: If none of the above steps work, you may need to contact Microsoft support for further assistance. They may be able to help you troubleshoot the issue or provide a solution.

Hopefully one of these steps will help you get the Xbox app to recognize your D: drive as NTFS and allow you to install games on it.

My driver is formatted as NTFS. Also, none of the solutions above worked.

Cannot install games on D drive says it is not formated to NTFS.

Well, my problem just solved itself.

I was watching a hockey game and The Outer Worlds just sneakily installed themselves along with Stellaris. Could have been just a massive server overload then?

Edit: It still won't allow me to install new games, desperately trying to convince me my NTFS drive isn't formatted as NTFS.

And no, I can't use the "install to system drive, then move it elsewhere" method, because my system drive is nowhere near the required capacity for the big games.

Xbox app won't allow me to install games as my drive isn't NTFS formatted

Literally only have this issue in the xbox app so im almost certain that the issue isn't with the drives and is with the xbox app itself or at least it's management of disk space.

Already found issues with trying to access the files of other games the app has already installed, as they are in a locked folder. Although this is not the issue I am having right now, just an inconvenience.
