Xbox app for PC stops downloading at 1/3 progress

We understand that you are unable to download Xbox app because it is stuck in 1/3 progress.

To ensure that we are on the same page, we would like to ask for few things:

1. What troubleshooting steps you have performed already?
   
2. Meanwhile we are waiting, please provide us a screenshot of the issue.
   
3. May we know if you are part of Xbox Insider or PC Insider?
   
4. What are the steps you have taken before this issue happens?
   
5. Can you install any apps or games from Microsoft Store?
   

For the meantime, please try the following steps:

Restart PC to clear your computer’s memory/RAM.

Install PC updates including Optional Update. Guide - Update Windows

Install Xbox app:

• Try to install the Xbox app through the link by selecting the Download the App. Link: Xbox App for Windows PC | Xbox.
  
• Open the downloaded installer then install Xbox app.
  
• Install the Xbox app and let us know if this will launch.
  
• Note:
  
  • System requirements vary by game; performance scales with higher-end systems. Playing games on the Xbox app for PC may require switching out of Windows S mode.
    
  • ARM devices support the Xbox cloud gaming feature only on the Xbox app. Game Pass Ultimate or a supported free-to-play game is required for cloud gaming.
    

Next, if issue persists, please try to run our beta repair tool:

• Check the Xbox app version number since you cannot launch Xbox app, go to PC Settings > Apps > Apps and feature > look for Xbox and select the Xbox app. Look for app's version number.
  
  • Version number is 2311.1001.7.0 or newer (higher), try to download the repair tool for Gaming Services (Beta).
    
  • For older versions, please update Xbox app through Microsoft Store.

There were no changes made to the PC before it stopped working.

Everything was working fine before. On December 11th at night I had zero issues. The next morning I had the above problems.

There are no error messages outside of when I ran the troubleshoot it said some apps are crashing and hanging. It did not state which.

Right now it just won't install the Xbox app. I got the windows store to work again using the power shell code but I've tried the following ways to have the Xbox app:

1) downloading the installer from the game pass site. Using this method the progress bar gets stuck 1/3 of the way through.

2) getting the app from the Microsoft store. This method says downloading but never moves past 1% or 325kb. My download speeds are not limited anywhere else.

I've tried wsreset before.

I'll try your other suggestions and update.

Hey everyone,

I was getting the same error, but I was able to get the game running by following these steps:

1. Uninstall and reinstall the game from Microsoft Store. (Can be skipped, haven't tested without it)

2. Open the Xbox app on Windows. It will show the download progress of the game in the app.

3. Once finished downloading, launch the game from the Xbox app.

4. Success!
