Xbox app for PC does not automatically update any games

As the subject says, the Xbox app for Win10 does not ever automatically detect updates for games. Not only that, but since there is no manual update option that I can find, I have no way to update my games other than completely uninstalling and reinstalling them. I can't be expected to spent 4 hours re-downloading a game every time an update comes out, not to mention the bandwidth that uses.

I have tried updating games via the microsoft store, but this also lacks a way to manually check for updates on a per-game basis as far as I can tell.

Is there any way at all to force the xbox app to check for updates? If not, are there any plans to add a check for updates button or something?

Same Issue. The xbox app stopped installing updates and does not check updates automatically. What is even more annoying is the Microsoft store app can install updates but it cannot check for them. What is wrong xbox platform on pc?

I've been having troubles with Wasteland 3 from the xbox-gaming-pass two times already (the latter one just solved right now). The game from one day to the other started crashing at startup displaying a message regarding an error due to an update that has to be installed (but updating was grayed out in the xbox-app, and microsoft store did not see the game at all). What works for me is searching the game in the Microsoft Store and then not clicking the game-pass version, but rather the one from the store itself. It then starts downloading the update (actually it says that it's 'installing the game' above the progress bar, but the download size of ~3GB vs >20GB of the initial install through the xbox-app seems more like this missing 'update' to me). I hope this works for other games too, at least it's a trigger for Wasteland 3 on xbox/game-pass.

I was able to solve this. My Xbox app on PC showed a new update for Doom Eternal. But clicking Update in that app didn't do anything.

On opening the Microsoft Store and going to updates, it listed the Doom Eternal update along with a few others. I did a Update all and to my surprise all apps, except Doom Eternal got updated and it remained in my queue.

Then I clicked Get Updates. It found a few more apps to update and this time Doom Eternal update started downloading too. No idea what the trigger is though.

Unlike other PC download applications the Xbox app doesn't do the installation of games (although it looks like it does). All games are actually installed via the Windows Store.

To update your games manually you should be able do this via the Windows Store and access updates from the top right corner of the store in the same way all Windows Store apps are updated
