Xbox App doesn't let me change the default install location in Settings > General

Discus and support Xbox App doesn't let me change the default install location in Settings > General in XBoX on Windows to solve the problem; I'm using Windows 10 64-bit.     Xbox App doesn't let me change the default install location in Settings > General


    I'm using Windows 10 64-bit.

    In the Game Install Options Section, if I click the Change where this app installs games by default I get a drop down list of different drives to pick from, no matter what option I choose, it will instantly reset to the C drive. Why is this happening?

    All I ever have are problems with this programme. I got game pass again after I cancelled a year ago due to other problems, and immediately I have another problem! Steam or GOG don't have this problem, but Xbox does.

    Does anybody know what is happening, why, and how to fix it?

    Did you set your default install location to the E drive? If you didn't, please do:

    Open the Xbox App.

    Click on your Profile picture > Select Settings.

    In the Xbox Settings, go to General Section > Game install options.

    Click on the drop-down and change it to the E drive.

    Also try changing the default location for new apps in Windows to your external SSD and then try installing the game again.

    Go to Start (Windows Start) -> Settings -> System -> Storage -> Change where new content is saved (under 'More Storage Settings'). Change the setting "New Apps will install to:" to the drive you want to use.

    Try it and let me know if it can be installed on your E drive.

    If Xbox App still doesn't let you install your games on your external SSD, please let me know and we can proceed to further troubleshooting.

    Cannot change game install location in Xbox App. Every single install goes to the WindowsApps folder.

    I have the same issue.

    Recently upgraded my hard drives and now I have two lesser drives, but this app doesn't let me install games in any drive except the one that was in use before this change.

    Under settings I have changed the default install location to E: but the app insists on installing to F:

    How is this even an issue?

    I've now got control over the folder, but it still doesn't let me set it as the default install location. When I try to, it comes up with the error message 'You can't set your default install location to that folder. Try another one.'

    games under a certain size will only install to the defualt storage location that is set for apps and games under settings/storage/change where to store.

    large games will let you choose a drive.
