Xbox app doesn't let me change install location

I had to double check to confirm, but even games that don't show the warning text you showed aren't allowing me to change the install location.

Here's a quick .gif I took of me trying to change the location of Carrion. It doesn't matter which option I choose, neither of them let me change the file location.

Even games that are already installed aren't able to be moved. I installed Among Us, which, according to the Xbox Insider criteria, SHOULD be allowed to have its Install Location changed, but it doesn't let me.

Since my first post above, I have ran 1 additional Reinstall of all the Default Microsoft Apps with Powershell, I have reinstalled Xbox Insider completely and restarted my computer 3 times.

I'm having basically the exact same problem. No matter how many times I change the install location settings in the Xbox app, the changes will not save at all, and the games will only install to the folder on my D drive that I had selected before this problem started occurring. I tried everything I know how, and none of it worked, which leads me to believe that this is a bug on Microsoft's end, specifically in the Xbox app itself.

I have the same issue.

Recently upgraded my hard drives and now I have two lesser drives, but this app doesn't let me install games in any drive except the one that was in use before this change.

Under settings I have changed the default install location to E: but the app insists on installing to F:

How is this even an issue?

Did you set your default install location to the E drive? If you didn't, please do:

Open the Xbox App.

Click on your Profile picture > Select Settings.

In the Xbox Settings, go to General Section > Game install options.

Click on the drop-down and change it to the E drive.

Also try changing the default location for new apps in Windows to your external SSD and then try installing the game again.

Go to Start (Windows Start) -> Settings -> System -> Storage -> Change where new content is saved (under 'More Storage Settings'). Change the setting "New Apps will install to:" to the drive you want to use.

Try it and let me know if it can be installed on your E drive.

If Xbox App still doesn't let you install your games on your external SSD, please let me know and we can proceed to further troubleshooting.

Are you trying to change it inside the Xbox app or at the system settings too?

If you are only on the Xbox app, please try to change the system default location to install games and apps:

Go to Start (Windows Start) -> Settings -> System -> Storage -> Change where new content is saved (under 'More Storage Settings'). Change the setting "New Apps will install to:" to the drive you want to use.

If it doesn't work too, please let me know.
