Xbox app & Delivery Optimization Control Issue

Internet Connection Speed : 100Mbps

Location : Australia ( South Australia )

PC Connection type : Ethernet

App in question : Xbox ( PC )

Hi , So from what I've found Windows Delivery Optimization Control is used to control / limit bandwidth that the Xbox app on pc uses to download games. So I've followed the online instructions , trying both "Absolute Bandwidth" and "Percentage of measured bandwidth (measured against the update source)" AND also setting my connection as "metered" but still nothing stops xbox from pulling 100% of the house connection ( not nice for the others in the house as lag / staggering / buffering is a real issue ) Things like logging out and back into xbox app does nothing. Every things I have tried that I've found online does nothing. Why cant the xbox app have throttle controls like every other decent launcher / installer out there ( Steam & Battle-net ... just to name 2 of the big ones out there )

Hello EskyVX, this is really weird, the settings should have worked.

You can also try to see if your Modem/Router provides this type of configuration in the equipment.

THIS is the real fix.

Everyone having this issue probably limited the bandwith for Delivery Optimization at some point because windows updates (Delivery optimization process) took all of your bandwith one day and you hated it.

Turns out, the XBOX App uses the Delivery Optimization to download games, so it gets the same limit you setup on Windows Update.

Hey Lukas Lauer,

I have already turned Delivery Optimization off in the Windows Settings.

Is there anything else that is possibly creating these high network usages from the Delivery Optimization. As I've mentioned earlier this only happens when I start downloading Games from the XBox App.

press WIN+R (Windows logo key + R) , Enter "services.msc", Right-click Delivery Optimization, Start, service indicates Running status

Canceled pending installations in Xbox app then try installing the launcher via MS store app.

If that did not work, press (WIN+R -> gpedit.msc)

Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Delivery Optimization

Activated "Download mode" and switched to 1.

Currently, Windows 10 doesn't have official support for making a copy or backup of downloaded Store apps and games for use on another device. The closest official feature is

Delivery Optimization which lets you download the app or game from another computer on your local network; see if that feature is suitable for your needs.
