Xbox App: Cannot read or send messages

Thank you for updating us. Try performing these steps and see if that makes a difference:

a: Press Windows key + X.

b: Then click Command Prompt(Admin)

c: Now type the following command and hit enter

Get-AppxPackage *windowsstore* | Remove-AppxPackage

Get-AppxPackage *xboxapp* | Remove-AppxPackage

After a restart enter the following command (again in a powershell in admin):

Get-AppxPackage -AllUsers| Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register “$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml”}

This will install any missing built-in apps you may have uninstalled.

It seems like you have done quite a bit of troubleshooting already to no avail, but I would be happy to try and help you. What's odd is that the issue persists across different platforms and devices of the Xbox app (Windows 10 & mobile) with any account
you try, when I've normally seen issues with one or the other and it's usually isolated to just one account. There may be some system settings on your devices causing this issue.

Try re-installing the Xbox app on your PC this way and see if this makes a difference at all for the PC app:

1. Remove the Xbox app per the PowerShell instructions. Run it as admin.

Windows Key + X > Windows PowerShell
Command Prompt(Admin)> Get-AppxPackage *xboxapp* | Remove-AppxPackage

2. Then, install the Xbox Identity Provider first:

3. Then install the Xbox app:

4. Launch the app, sign in, and try checking your messages.

Thanks for reaching out and responding to us here on the Forums! I suggest you to run the
app troubleshooter:

1. Press Windows Key+X.
2. Click Control Panel.
3. Select Troubleshooting.
4. On the left pane, click on View All.
5. Click on Windows Store
   app to run the troubleshooter and follow the on-screen instructions.

Also, please try: to perform a clean boot,
this helps eliminate software conflicts that occur when you install a program or an update or when you run a program in Windows 10.

I hope something is resolved. I gave up. See I just assumed they brushed the issue as "Something on their side, they'll figure it out." considering how it was closed out when I was trying to get it fixed. I can't imagine this issue is THAT rare, but if it
is, just our luck huh?
