Xbox app borked? Maybe a Live service issue?

Is there any update on this? Aside from the friends list itself loading in as normal, everything else now has a lengthy loading delay or fails to load altogether.

I would happily run a debug version or do some extra tests, or anything else that would help get to the bottom of this.

 

BTW, I forgot to mention that around the time this started happening, I also started having issues with the Forza Hub app on Windows 10. Now that app is borderline unusable as well.

What happens is, when I launch it, I just get a spinning loading circle for ages, then it says "Sorry, the Forza Hub is currently unavailable", however, sometimes if I close the app and immediately re-open it again, it works fine.

I don't know what's causing it as nothing has changed at my end, but for some reason, both the Forza Hub and Xbox apps are having trouble connecting to the servers to pull in the required data.

The Forza Hub issue is with the Windows 10 app. On the console it works fine and it logs me in instantly. With the PC version, I get the spinning loading circle for 10-20 seconds, then it says that the Forza Hub is currently unavailable.

I just updated to the latest beta. No change. It's still borked and things are taking ages to load/failing to load.

Aside from that, for 8 days there's been a widespread issue with people's statuses showing as "Home" when they're actually playing games or using apps, and for several months there has been an issue where a person shows as being in a party when they're not.

I feel like I'm beating my head against a brick wall here though.

 

Hi SigmaTheDJ, Sorry to hear experiencing performance issues with the App. There was supposedly some service issues over the weekend that may have been related. Are you still experiencing failing to load issues? If yes, please send us a "report a problem"
and I will request an investigation.

Also the "Home" issue is something the developers are very aware and there is an on-going investigation.

I am still experiencing the issues unfortunately. It's a constant thing now, so it's not like it was when I first reported this where sometimes it worked fine and sometimes it didn't. For the last couple of months the loading delays always happen.

I've just installed the new SmartGlass Beta for Android, which seems to be a version of the Xbox app for Android as it looks a lot like the PC one now, and with that I don't get any loading issues over Wi-Fi so it doesn't seem to be an issue with either
my account, nor my ISP/home network. The same data that takes forever to load, or fails to load, on the Windows app - profile info, message list, activity alert list - all loads in straight away on my phone.

I will report this again later today via the app.

 

I've just updated to the latest version of the beta on PC and the issues are still there.

Do you think that this might have been caused by a 2 factor authentication issue?

My parents gave me a laptop they wanted me to take a look at. It was running Windows 10, so I signed into the Xbox app using my MS account to see how it performed. As I have 2 factor enabled, I got a notification on my phone to authorise the login, which
I did. The Xbox app worked fine - no more loading delays!

I then went back to the Xbox app on my own PC, signed out, signed back in again - no more loading delays!

Of course, I had tried signing out/in of the app on my own PC before, which never did anything, but what I hadn't tried was signing into the Xbox app on a different PC.

This can't be coincidence, as the app literally had constant problems for weeks on end, but the moment I signed into the app on a different PC, then signed out/into it on my own PC, it starts working as normal.

Anyway, fingers crossed it keeps working!

In the very latest beta released earlier, this seems fixed once and for all. While I was no longer getting profile info completely failing to load, sometimes it would take 10-20 seconds. In the latest beta it's blazing fast - basically instant. Great job!
