Xbox and Microsoft store playtime not syncing with minecraft launcher for java

For Minecraft Java, it is not possible to sync game time or time played with the Xbox app because this game does not actually run through the Xbox app or the Microsoft store.

This game run only through the Minecraft Launcher. It appears to all of us as N/A in “Time Played”.

Regarding the message: “click here to use the launcher to play!”, this happens if you try to launch Minecraft Java through the Xbox app, and that's because as I indicated previously, Minecraft Java runs through the Minecraft launcher and not through the Xbox app.

Now, If you have problems starting or installing Minecraft java from the launcher, then make sure your internet connection is stable. Minecraft Java can only be launched and installed through the Minecraft launcher.

That should be okay then. If this is for Minecraft for Windows 10, kindly sign out on Microsoft Store App as well as Xbox App and then restart your PC before signing back in.

If this is for Minecraft Java Edition, sign out on Minecraft launcher and then restart before signing back in. Just to re-sync the changes.

If i buy Minecraft Dungeons from the Microsoft Store will it be available in the Minecraft (Java) Launcher, or will it be like Minecraft Java vs Bedrock?

Minecraft Java Edition can be purchased from thier store page using your Microsoft Account:

And then being accessed with the (free) Minecraft Launcher on the Microsoft Store.

Both Windows and Java Editions are included with Xbox Game Pass for PC/Ultimate subscription.
