XBox and its games: how are updates done?

Hi, I am thinking to buy an XBox for my brother. He used to play games on his PC but that was like 10+ years ago and my brother has very little computer knowledge. He is npt interested in learning how to manage/update PCs. He just uses them to play.

So having an XBox would probably make his life easier in playing gamex. But then I am wondering how does an XBox manages its updates and game updates?

    :)

XBox and its games: how are updates done?

    Hi,

Well, it's a very simple console to use. Plug it in, connect it to the internet, do the initial system update. Then either create or log in with a Microsoft account.

Games can either be on disc (only for consoles with an optical drive) or downloaded. The system is pretty straight forward when it comes to system updates, it can do them even in its lowest power settings (basically in stand-by) so unless you don't have a constant internet connection or un-plug it, you should see console updates.

The system can also update installed/downloaded games while its in standby mode. These downloads can be quite large so a fast internet connection is a must for the best experience.

the system updates are done instantly automatic but data charges may apply in some rare cases

If you have the console set to automatically keep your games, apps, and system software up to date, it will check for updates once per day and install any that are found.

You can manually check for game/app updates by going into My games & apps - Manage - Updates. It will then check for updates and if any are found, you can choose which to install or you can click "Update all" to queue them all up.

The console will also check for an update when you launch a game/app. If one is found, you'll be prompted to install it before you can play.

You can manually check for a system update by going to Settings - System - Updates.

Your best bet is to choose to have it done automatically, which makes things as seamless as possible. You may still get hit by an update screen when launching a game once in a while, but that way will lead to the fewest interruptions.

It checks for updates and downloads them. This can be automated
