Xbox Account Update, without Family

I recently created an Xbox account, but due to my age (16), it's listed as a child account. This automatically prohibits any online gameplay, but I cannot update my settings, as I need a nonexistent parent account to do so.

How can I update my multiplayer settings without having to create a family group, or make a parent account?

Thanks for reaching out to the forums. We understand you have question on privacy settings. Unfortunately, you will not be able to adjust these settings on your own accord. You need a parent account to adjust these settings due to your account is considered
a child account. Here are a couple links that will help you.

It's no longer available. Microsoft scrapped the family accounts without notice or announcements. However with their rising interest in acquiring "Xbox Gold" domain names I would expect a replacement announcement for family accounts to coincide with the
evolution of Xbox LIVE on the next-gen console...all strictly rumour, but something is brewing. For now though you are not able to have a Family Account

Theory of Game

As far as I know, this shouldn't be a problem - you can set the mother's Xbox as the daughter's "home" without issue. The family settings should remain in place, with your account as the parent in the family.

You’re aloud to share with family as that’s why it gives you the option for sharing gold with family, how else would you be able to share with them without their account? (Why else would you have make this account your home Xbox)
