Xbox account really weird ****

Hi,

Today, for the first time ever, I decided to set up my Xbox on Windows 10 account and have had nothing but problems with it. First, please allow me to give a little background information:

1. I have NEVER, not EVER had an Xbox OR an Xbox account. Never, ever, ever. NEVER.

2. I'm the kind of person who doesn't like having tons of crappy bloatware wasting system resources, however little impact it has.

3. What number 2 means, is that the very first thing I did after installing Windows 10 on my PC, was switch off/remove ALL of the shovelware programs that came pre-installed - this includes Cortana, Zune Movies/Music, Xbox for W10, Office, etc, etc.

4. Today is the first time I have EVER used Xbox for W10. I signed in using my pre-existing Hotmail address.

5. I do NOT have my Hotmail account linked to Windows 10 - besides entering it for the Xbox setup just now - as I am the sole user and do not wish to sign in every time I start or reboot my own goddamn machine

So, here's the thing: imagine my surprise when I signed in and apparently already had a (really stupid) username that apparently costs real money to change (WOW, seriously Microsoft you're that much of a bitch?!) and 71, yes, SEVENTY-ONE friends on my friends
list?! What in the actual...?! Even weirder, I recognise 2 of these people from my Steam friends list. Nobody else though. I don't know people in Australia, Thailand, or South Korea... WTF? I do NOT have any Steam games that boot via the Xbox for W10 client
(e.g. some Steam games boot Ubisoft's Uplay which then boots the game itself).

The ONLY reason I even bothered to sign up with this crap is because of one game I'd really love to play (Sea Of Thieves), that stupidly decided to use this system instead of Steam, and yet apparently I've had half my life story already written for me (without
my prior consent or knowledge, I might add) on Xbox for W10. Is there any way to completely reset my account - full clean slate, new name, new friends list, new everything?

If you want to reset your account or get rid of the gamertag currently attached to your Microsoft Account, all you have to do is to move the gamertag to a different Microsoft account or email. To do this, you may check out the link below and carefully follow

Thank you for your response, unfortunately however the link you provided as not been very helpful. I followed the instructions on how to add another e-mail address, hoping to use my Gmail account. After verifying, I signed out of the Xbox app and back in, using
my Gmail account. All this did was attach my current gamertag to BOTH e-mail addresses! I have since removed the Gmail address.

I was hoping to clear the details on my current MS account rather than make an entirely new one, anyway. I've had this e-mail address for years, and don't see why I shouldn't have full control over it (including the information it has obtained without my knowledge).
I also don't want to delete my current account, which appears to be indicated here on Step 3:

"Step 3: Remove the email address you no longer want to use to sign in

Note If you choose to remove an alias that uses a Microsoft domain such as @hotmail.com, @outlook.com, or @live.com, that alias will be completely deleted and will not be available to sign in to any Microsoft services."

Is there any way I can simultaneously wipe the gamertag data from my account, but keep my current e-mail address and it's contents safe, while still using it as my "fresh" gamertag login?

I should also add that since re-installing Xbox for W10 yesterday, my Keyboard and Language settings were forced into using English (US) instead of English (UK). Checking Control Panel - Language (and the advanced settings within), it appears the English (UK)
pack was removed from my system and replaced with English (US). I checked through my Language settings and had to reassign all of them to English (UK). Upon booting my PC this morning, I discovered it had reverted to English (US)
again. I hope this isn't going to become a daily routine!
