Xbox Account Hacked Years Ago

My first time posting on a forum so I have no hopes on anything.

I suffered a data breach a couple of years ago and a lot of my social media accounts were hacked. I managed to recover every single one apart from my cousin's account (that was on my computer when my data was breached). We have continuously tried to recover them but it has been around 3 years now. My cousin has moved to PS because of this, didn't like the fact that he had to restart all his game progress from scratch.

Now when he tries to log in, his account is locked due to suspicious activity so he must go through 2FA. But the phone number associated with his account has been de-activated by the provider. We have tried contacting them to recover the phone number but no luck. Literally all he needs is for that phone number to be removed from the account and re-placed with his current one.

I have filled in the recovery form more times than I could think of... It hasn't worked at all... They ask me for a Xbox Network Device ID, I give them it. But still, not luck. I can't talk to an agent about it over the phone, or even message them on live chat. I don't know what to do. Its so stupid since all I need is my old phone number but its impossible to recover it.

As of this current point in time, if you gave Microsoft that info and they denied it. It might be time to just accept it unfortunately. It seems like theres no way around the phone number. (if there is I wish they would tell us)

That form you filled out was the probably the last glimmer of hope. It happens, my wifes account the email provider literally sold the domain name to rocket mortgage, and the email account no longer exists.

It stinks, but we learn to stay on top of our Microsoft security.

Alright. If that link doesn't help then I'm afraid that there's nothing that anyone here can do to help. Only phone support would be able to help if you've lost access to your gamertag.

@freelancechunk1 I am in the same situation as you, my gamertag was hacked atleast 3 years ago (can't remember the exact time) and the account was completely wiped and when i signed in it created this new account with the email. They also charged like 700
to my dad's credit card.

Have you had any luck recovering your account? I've tried a few times over the years but never gotten to the bottom of it, i might try again, any tips?
