Xbox account asking for wrong email

After updating my Xbox, I was asked to resign into my account on the Xbox. The account is asking a for a password to the wrong email. When I use the “use another devise” method Microsoft logs me in automatically with my correct email. Though when the Xbox process this, it gives an error message and keeps me logged out of my account.

Is this happening on your Xbox console? Are you still able to sign in with the correct account on the website?

If this is a problem on your console, try to do a reset.

Let's refresh the console's system cache and see if this can help.

NOTE: This will remove the profiles on your console, make sure that you remember the email and password to your account.

No data or game saves will be lost doing this, everything is backed up to the cloud servers.

1. Press the Xbox button to open the guide.

2. Select Settings.

3. Select System.

4. Select Console info

5. Select Reset console.

6. Select Reset and keep my games & apps

This will also help sync the data on your console properly.

Ok, i asked you if you are using the email account or just trying to use the gamertag, as the problem it's that either you are not using a registered Microsoft account or you are using the wrong email, to be able to log in to the game you need a Microsoft account

PertLight02977, may I ask, have you made sure that you have signed-in the correct account that has the Xbox Live Gold subscription? There's a chance that the email where you saw the notification of Xbox Live Gold's renewal was your alternate email and when
you signed-in this one, it prompted you to buy gold which technically is the wrong account.

Switch your gamertag to a different Windows Live ID (email)

You can change the Windows LIVE ID (email) associated with your gamertag. Here’s how:

1. Sign in using your Xbox LIVE gamertag.

2. Go to Settings, and then select Account.

3. Go to Your Information and then select Windows Live ID.

4. Select Change Windows Live ID.

Do one of the following:

If you have another Windows Live ID, select Yes.

If you do not have another Windows Live ID, go to Windows Live Sign In, and click Sign up. Once you have another Windows Live ID, select Yes and continue with the next step.

Note: Your Microsoft Points balance will automatically be transferred to the new Windows Live ID.

5. Enter the password for the Windows Live ID that is currently associated with your gamertag, and then select Sign in.

6. Enter the email address and the password for the new Windows Live ID that you want to associate with your gamertag, and then select Sign in.

7. Select Yes, change to change the Windows Live ID associated with your Xbox LIVE account.

8. Select Update Contact Information to update your contact information or Done to finish.

Notes

When you change your Windows Live ID, your Microsoft Points are automatically transferred to the new Windows Live ID.

You can make only one Windows Live ID change for a given gamertag every 30 days.

Before you can change the Windows Live ID associated with a child account, you must provide the Windows Live ID information for the adult account with parental control.

You can choose to require or not require your Windows Live ID password to sign into Xbox LIVE. For more information on how to do this, see Password-protect
your Xbox LIVE profile.
