Xbox accessories app on pc keeps saying theres an update for elite series 2 controller

If yes, are you able to connect the controller to a different PC or Xbox?
If yes, try doing the update there to see if something similar happens or not

Are you not able to test with a different Windows PC?

In the meantime, let's try this:

A. If you have steam installed in your PC, try disabling steam controller input / configuration
Restart the PC and verify

B. Open task manager > select the startup tab > disable all the programs listed there temporarily
Restart the PC and try again

C. Do a clean boot in your PC and give it a new try (is like option B but deeper)

ive tried it on my xbox and it installs a different firmware but when i plug it back into the pc it installs the original again. ive rolled back my firmware through the xbox too with the same issue happening.

Please double check if everything in your PC is up to date including the accessories app:

Open Settings, click Update and Security and then Windows Update
Click Check for Updates

Click the Download and Install Now option, if available (Install optional updates as well)

Also, check the Microsoft Store for any updates on the Xbox apps and its services and update everything too. (Click on get updates)

If everything looks good, try reinstalling your controller driver:
Press Windows key + X and select Device Manager > search something like Xbox controller category (or similar) > expand the category using the little arrow (">") > select delete/uninstall driver

Click OK, restart your PC and reconnect the controller. Open the accessories app and verify

If the issue persists, reinstall / update the Plug and Play Software Device Enumerator driver.

You can do it following previous steps, but now select Plug and Play Software Device Enumerator.

Can take a while, would be great to wait up to 15 minutes before trying again
