XBOX 360S Third-Party HDD Issues

Hi! So Ive been sold a 320GB internal HDD for Xbox 360 Slim.

However it comes in this box [ https://sc01.alicdn.com/kf/HTB12kCr...05630/HTB12kCrGFXXXXb5XFXXq6xXFXXX2.jpg_.webp ] which isnt the Authentic HDD box so I suspect its 3rd party.

When I insert it into my XBOX, it is not detected. My XBOX is stock and not modded.

I returned it to my seller and he said it works on his XBOX just fine. I did not ask if his console was modded or not.

Could it be that the HDD is not detected because it only works on modded consoles? Or is it just an issue with my XBOX's HDD reader?

Ah Im very glad to hear that it isnt about the HDD reader xD. Mmm I see. Yeah I think my seller gave me a broken HDD, and then used his own working HDD to show that it was working on his console.

I think Ill just throw that HDD away and buy another one. Theres a 750GB internal HDD for 18SGD (13USD) that ive been eyeing.

Not anymore since they no longer make hard drives for the Xbox 360. Any drives sold in the wild now claiming to be new would be un-sold stock (very rare) or Far East knock off drives. You buy second hand hard drives but be aware that hard drives are mechanical and will eventually fail.

For most games you can use external USB hard drive. The 360 supports external drives up to 2TB. I would also recommend you fully install all of your frequently played games as this will save wear and tear on the console's DVD drive.
