XBOX 360 will not update from USB stick

Hello:

I am very frustrated because I have followed the instructions from Microsoft.com (XBOX community) on how to download the latest update for my XBOX 360 onto a USB stick, but my XBOX 360 will not update. I do not have the ability to connect to the internet
for a direct update. I feel I just bought a used boat anchor. I have seen MANY other posts concerning the same issue but no solution. Help would be appreciated.

You need the USB memory stick for the Xbox 360. (not use if regular USB sticks work) You can (not 100%) copy your profile from the Xbox 360 your using to the USB stick and then use anywhere you plug that stick into (all xbox 360 systems)

I tried to unzip the file and copy the $system_update to a usb stick. But, the xbox 360 does not seem to read the USB stick after restarting the xbox. Is there a trick to getting the xbox to read the system update off the usb stick?

I believe the issue is that when the 360 1st came out it was not able to read usb sticks. there was an update later on that allowed you to use usb sticks and to format them for the 360. your new 60gb HD does not have that update on it yet from what i believe,
which is why it will nto recognize your usb stick. just get the latest update for your 360 onto your newer HD and all should be fine
